Daryl Ferguson 2/2

Ferguson grew up learning football from his father.  A natural athlete, his skills were noticed by every football professional he came in contact with.  He worked out with D.C. United's Super Y-League team before he enrolled in Seton Hill University, a small college close to New York City, in South Orange, New Jersey.  At Seton Hall, he focused on his studies until 2005, when he was able to join the school’s soccer squad in his senior year.  After a good season with Seton Hall, Ferguson was introduced to USL officials by his coach, Dan McCarty, in 2006.  He was soon signed with the Delaware Dynasty, a USL team in the Professional Development League.

During his time with the Dynasty, he worked out with the USL First Division team the Charleston Battery, and this proved his ability to handle the best football in the United States.  With Delaware, Ferguson had 30 appearances in two years, and he scored a goal in 2007.  He enjoyed regular workouts with the local USL First Division team, the Real Maryland Monarchs, and in 2008 he was offered a professional contract.  With the Monarchs, he played the second highest total minutes of any of his teammates, and earned 18 appearances.  He was cited for 15 fouls, indicating a willingness to make a rough tackle.  Other teammates had twice as many fouls as that, so he was by no means serving the “enforcer” role.  Ferguson also took five shots at the goal that year.
